Christy Sang

Christy sang and stirred the souls
of those who heard him in the pub.
The words of love that reached inside
and seized the heart and stopped its pounding,
filling the surrounding air
with song to lift them from despair.

Christy sang and startled everyone
who sat inside that darkened space.
Perhaps he could erase some traces of the gloom
that made its presence felt
in every corner of the room.

Christy sang and then sat down
and drank a glass of stout.
We helped each other up
and then we managed to get out.
We cycled through the countryside,
the air was thick and sweet,
my body wrapped in pleasure from
my head down to my feet.

I studied religion at the UC-Berkeley and have been interested in the spirit ever since. I try to give my poems a spiritual aspect whenever possible.
