The Living

I won’t become stronger by fearing to live.
I reach out to others, but sometimes they bite.
So easy to blame, yet so hard to forgive.

If it were possible what would you give
for a life that acknowledges all in your sight?
I won’t become stronger by fearing to live.

My trials and my sorrows I hope to outlive,
I look to my reading to gain some insight.
So easy to blame yet so hard to forgive.

Thoughts and conclusions flow out through a sieve,
trapping the heavy and passing the light.
I won’t become stronger by fearing to live.

The harms done to me there’s no need to relive,
yet they linger in shadows, and try as I might
it’s so easy to blame yet so hard to forgive.

The road out of sorrow I cannot misgive.
I come out of shadow and into the light.
I won’t become stronger by fearing to live.
It was easy to blame, it was hard to forgive.

I studied religion at the UC-Berkeley and have been interested in the spirit ever since. I try to give my poems a spiritual aspect whenever possible.
