Let’s put aside our own agenda,
Let’s take time to heal and mend,
Said Governor Abbott to the crowd.
Let’s speak softly, not so loud,
Now’s not the time to talk about
The things we should have done
If we’d only listened to the ones
Who cry for their children now in the grave.
But there’s no politician who doesn’t crave
Donations from the NRA.
For the children’s souls we’ll kneel and pray,
But never take our guns away.
